Projects:
Assistive Technology:
Hug Vest
Ideated, prototyped and patented undergarment vest simulating a hug. Reducing feelings of anxiety in individuals, especially those with sensory processing disorder backed by clinical evidence-based Deep-Pressure Therapy. Adapts to users of all abilities with auto pressure regulation using distress indicator sensing data and delivering “hugs” of appropriate magnitude and duration.
Personal Hygiene app
As part of MIT Beaver Works Assistive Technology course, created videos to guide and pace users through all parts of their Hygiene regimen. On my own, created an application that enables users to view hygiene videos, create custom AM and PM hygiene playlists, train and track their habits, and receive reminder notifications.
Assisted Percussion Practice Pad
Prototyped, fabricated, and patented drum pad that assists users with physical or motor planning disabilities by associating visual cues with anticipated notes. Developed software to scan percussion sheet music and translate into notes associated with LED outputs, and display variances in actual vs. expected stick collision patterns and timing.
Buttering device
Every day, my brother has two slices of buttered rye toast for breakfast. However, it was often frustrating and difficult for him to cut, transfer, and spread butter. So I invented a butter-applying apparatus to make the motor complexity of buttering “as easy as butter.” Created variations for East Coast (Elgin) style stick, and West Coast (Stubbie) style stick.
Makerspace & More:
Solenoid Engine & Car
Designed, fabricated, and programmed working V4 engine capable of over 500 rpm! Computed and constructed custom Solenoid actuators. Designed and assembled car with limited self-driving capabilities using the V4 engine & Ultrasonic Sensor. Used to promote local maker space.
Animatronic Owl
Designed and programmed an animatronic owl toy that can sense movement and ‘hide’. Won Sigil of the Elements award for best design in MIT Beaver Works competition.
Weston Makerspace
Led and trained a team to re-start previously abandoned High School Makerspace. Repaired broken machines and spearheaded campaign to inform students, including giant 3D printed LED “MAKE” sign. Created a certification system and training guides.
